Punjab Kings spinner Yuzvendra Chahal delivered a crucial breakthrough in their IPL 2026 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad, dismissing the dangerous Travis Head at a key moment in the innings. The wicket came in the seventh over, just as SRH were looking set to run away with the game after a blistering start.

Chahal, known for his variations, outfoxed the Australian opener with a well-disguised googly. Head, who had been striking the ball cleanly, misread the delivery in flight but still committed to an attacking lofted shot. The mistimed hit went high in the air, and Marco Jansen calmly completed the catch at long-on. Head departed for a quickfire 38 off 19 balls, an innings that included three sixes and three fours, at an impressive strike rate of 200.

SRH’s explosive start was powered by their opening pair of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, who took the attack to the PBKS bowlers early on. Abhishek, in particular, was in destructive form, smashing 35 off just 13 deliveries at a staggering strike rate of 269.23. His innings featured four sixes and two boundaries before Lockie Ferguson broke the 54-run opening stand, with captain Shreyas Iyer completing a well-judged catch.

Despite losing both openers, SRH continued to post a formidable total. Heinrich Klaasen anchored the innings with a fluent 69 off 43 balls, while Nitish Reddy added a steady 29. Their contributions helped Hyderabad reach an imposing 235/4 in 20 overs.
In terms of standings, SRH remain firmly in contention with six wins from 10 matches, placing them third on the points table. Punjab Kings, despite recent back-to-back defeats, continue to hold the top spot with six wins in nine games, keeping their playoff hopes intact.
