While the viral moment showcased his fun personality off the field, Malinga’s performances with the ball have been equally impressive throughout the ongoing IPL season. Signed by Sunrisers Hyderabad at the 2025 auction, the young pacer entered the tournament as an exciting but relatively unknown prospect from Sri Lanka’s domestic circuit.

Since then, he has developed into one of SRH’s most dependable bowling options. Malinga has already picked up 16 wickets this season and earned praise for his ability to generate reverse swing during crucial phases of the innings. His impact has become even more significant with captain Pat Cummins missing seven matches this season.
