Cameron Green believes Kolkata Knight Riders have finally discovered the right balance in their playing XI after an inconsistent start to IPL 2026, with the defending champions now firmly back in the playoff race following a remarkable turnaround in form. KKR continued their resurgence with a commanding 29-run victory over the Gujarat Titans at Eden Gardens on Saturday.

The win marked their fifth triumph in the last six matches and significantly boosted their hopes of securing a place in the IPL 2026 playoffs after spending much of the season struggling outside the top four. Green played a vital role in the win with a blistering, unbeaten 52 off just 28 deliveries.

The Australian all-rounder stitched together a match-defining 108-run partnership with Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who once again impressed with his composure and stroke play in the middle overs. Their stand came after Finn Allen’s explosive assault at the top of the order, where the New Zealand batter smashed 93 off only 35 balls to propel KKR to a massive total of 247/2.

Speaking after the match, Camweron Green admitted that Kolkata took time to identify the ideal batting roles and combinations within the squad. “There was no panic behind closed doors. I think it just took us a little time, maybe a bit too long, to figure out the right roles and get the right people in the right positions,” Green said on JioHotstar.

The Australian added that flexibility in the batting order has helped KKR settle into a stronger rhythm during the second half of the tournament. “I feel I can bat in different positions, but it’s always about what works best for the team. Ajinkya Rahane has been brilliant for us at the top, and Angkrish has also been outstanding at No. 3. Right now, No. 4 seems to suit me best,” Cameron Green explained.

Green also dismissed suggestions that he enjoys a special advantage against Gujarat Titans spinner Rashid Khan after attacking the Afghan star successfully once again.

“Rashid is a world-class bowler and we’ll definitely have many more battles in the future. I don’t think I’m reading him better than others. Sometimes momentum in a game helps, and the platform created by the batters before me made my job easier,” he added. With momentum finally on their side, KKR now look like a completely transformed unit heading into the final phase of IPL 2026.
