Mitchell Starc praised the fighting spirit shown by the Delhi Capitals after their impressive comeback victory over the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026 on Sunday. The experienced left-arm pacer delivered a match-winning spell of 4/40 as Delhi secured a crucial five-wicket win and finished their home leg on a positive note.

Starc played a massive role in turning the game around after Rajasthan appeared set for a huge total. RR were cruising at 160/2 in the 14th over with momentum completely on their side, but Delhi’s bowlers staged a remarkable recovery during the death overs. Starc dismissed key batters including Riyan Parag, Donovan Ferreira, Ravi Singh and Dasun Shanaka to help restrict Rajasthan to 193/8.
Speaking after receiving the Player of the Match award, Mitchell Starc credited Delhi’s bowling unit for adapting quickly once the conditions changed after the powerplay.

“We didn’t bowl too badly in the powerplay. We fought back really well towards the end. Very good start for us. To get those two points is always nice. That’s the key, adjusting quickly,” Mitchell Starc said after the match.
The Australian fast bowler also highlighted the importance of staying mentally balanced in T20 cricket, where momentum can shift dramatically within a few overs or matches.

“Yeah, I think, I guess that’s the beauty of T20, things happen really, games come around so quickly. You can’t really dwell if things haven’t gone the way you wanted to, and likewise, you can’t really get too high if things have gone fantastic. So I think that’s the key, staying pretty level,” he explained.
Mitchell Starc further admitted that modern T20 cricket demands bowlers to keep their ego aside, especially on batting-friendly surfaces where even good deliveries can disappear to the boundary.

“As bowlers, you have to put the ego aside. There’s plenty of talent there. We’ve seen some young talent come through. It’s a positive to see the youngsters come here and perform,” he added.
The veteran pacer also praised Lungi Ngidi for adjusting brilliantly after the powerplay. According to Mitchell Starc, Delhi’s bowlers smartly used slower deliveries and reverse swing on a surface that offered very little assistance, helping DC seal two valuable points in their IPL 2026 campaign.
