India has announced a refreshed 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, with Shubman Gill set to lead the side and Shreyas Iyer named vice-captain. Despite speculation over squad rotation, senior stars Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul have all retained their spots for the ODI assignment.

However, India will be without pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who has been rested due to workload management following a demanding IPL 2026 campaign.
During the squad announcement, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that the participation of Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya remains subject to fitness clearance. Rohit recently recovered from a hamstring issue, while Pandya dealt with back spasms during IPL 2026.

The selectors have also made several notable changes from the squad that faced New Zealand earlier this year. Rishabh Pant has been dropped, while Ravindra Jadeja has been rested. Young pacer Harshit Rana continues to miss out due to a knee injury, and both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mohammed Siraj have been left out.
