Lucknow Super Giants opener Mitchell Marsh endured another heartbreaking finish after falling just four runs short of a deserved century during the IPL 2026 clash against the Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Tuesday. The Australian all-rounder was run out on the penultimate delivery of the innings following a brilliant direct hit from Rajasthan stand-in captain Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Attempting to complete a second run off a low full toss from Jofra Archer, Marsh sprinted back towards the striker’s end, but Jaiswal’s sharp throw from long-off caught him inches short of the crease.

Marsh eventually walked back after a stunning 96 off 57 deliveries, an innings packed with 11 boundaries and five towering sixes. It was yet another cruel end for the LSG opener, who had also been dismissed in the 90s during the previous game against Chennai Super Kings after scoring a blistering 90 off just 38 balls.

Asked to bat first, Lucknow got off to a flying start courtesy of Marsh and fellow opener Josh Inglis. The pair dominated Rajasthan’s bowling attack from the outset, racing to 83 without loss inside the powerplay. Their aggressive approach resulted in a superb 109-run opening partnership that came in only 50 deliveries.

Inglis played an equally destructive hand, smashing 60 off 29 balls with seven fours and three sixes before being dismissed. At No. 3, Nicholas Pooran managed a brief cameo of 16 from 11 balls, while LSG skipper Rishabh Pant contributed a handy 35 off 23 deliveries.
