Kolkata Knight Riders youngster Saurabh Dubey delivered one of the biggest moments of his debut IPL season by dismissing Rohit Sharma during the crucial IPL 2026 clash against the Mumbai Indians at Eden Gardens on Wednesday. The wicket gave KKR a massive early boost in what is virtually a must-win encounter for the defending champions.
After winning the toss, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane opted to bowl first, and the decision paid immediate dividends as the pace attack rattled the Mumbai Indians inside the powerplay. Saurabh Dubey emerged as the standout performer, removing the dangerous Rohit Sharma in his second over of the innings.
Rohit attempted to take on the young pacer but failed to get the timing right, with Cameron Green completing a safe catch in the deep. Dubey celebrated passionately after claiming the prized wicket, continuing his impressive breakthrough season in the IPL.

The dismissal further deepened the Mumbai Indians’ early collapse, with Ryan Rickelton and Naman Dhir also falling cheaply against KKR’s aggressive bowling attack. MI lost three wickets inside the powerplay as Kolkata tightened their grip on the contest.
Rohit Sharma, who has produced a mixed IPL 2026 campaign so far, once again failed to convert his start into a substantial innings. The former MI captain has shown flashes of brilliance this season, including knocks of 84 against Lucknow Super Giants and 78 versus KKR earlier in the tournament, but consistency has remained an issue.
