Former India pacer Jasprit Bumrah once again proved why he is regarded as one of the smartest fast bowlers in world cricket, this time by mentoring Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Kartik Tyagi after the IPL 2026 clash between the Mumbai Indians and KKR at Eden Gardens on Wednesday.

In a video shared by the Mumbai Indians on social media, Bumrah was seen explaining the importance of practising yorkers when the body is completely exhausted — a method that has helped him become one of the finest death-over specialists in modern cricket.
“When I practice my yorkers, I do it when I am tired because in the game, when the body is tired, that is when it gets used to bowling yorkers,” Jasprit Bumrah explained to Tyagi.

The MI speedster further advised the young KKR bowler to save yorker practice for the final deliveries of a net session, replicating the physical stress bowlers experience during crunch moments in T20 matches.
“So when you are bowling in the nets, practice yorkers in the last six balls of the session because that is when you would be the most tired. When the body gets used to that, it becomes easier in the actual game,” Jasprit Bumrah added.

Bumrah’s mastery of yorkers has been a defining feature of his career. The right-arm pacer developed the skill extensively during his early years at the Mumbai Indians under the guidance of Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga. Over the years, he has become one of the most feared death bowlers in world cricket because of his pinpoint accuracy and ability to execute under pressure.

Although Bumrah has not enjoyed his best IPL season statistically, managing only four wickets in 13 matches at an economy rate of 8.36, his reputation remains unmatched. The 32-year-old recently finished as the joint-highest wicket-taker in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 and played a key role in helping India secure back-to-back global titles.
Meanwhile, Kartik Tyagi has emerged as one of KKR’s brightest performers this season. The young fast bowler has picked up 18 wickets in IPL 2026 and has successfully stepped up following Harshit Rana’s injury absence, becoming a crucial part of Kolkata’s bowling attack.
