Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill produced one of the finest catches of IPL 2026 during the high-voltage clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Thursday, May 21. The GT skipper showcased exceptional athleticism and awareness to complete a sensational diving catch that brought an end to Shivam Dube’s explosive knock during CSK’s daunting chase of 230 runs.

After posting a massive total of 229/4, the Gujarat Titans dominated the contest right from the start with the ball. Mohammed Siraj and the GT attack reduced Chennai Super Kings to 29/3 inside the powerplay, putting the visitors under immense pressure early in the innings.

Despite the collapse, Shivam Dube attempted a counterattack that briefly gave CSK some hope. The left-handed batter came out firing and smashed 47 runs off just 16 balls, taking on the Gujarat bowlers with fearless intent. Dube even launched Rashid Khan for a huge six at the start of the leg-spinner’s spell and looked ready to shift the momentum.

However, Rashid Khan had the final say. Trying to attack once again, Dube rocked back to cut a delivery spinning away from him but failed to middle the shot properly. The ball ballooned towards the off-side region, where Shubman Gill sprinted backwards from cover while keeping his eyes firmly on the ball.

Although Gill was initially not in the perfect position, the GT captain timed his dive brilliantly and completed a stunning low catch at full stretch. The celebration that followed reflected the intensity of the moment, with Gill passionately silencing the CSK crowd after removing the dangerous Dube.

Dube still finished as CSK’s top scorer, but the chase never truly recovered after his dismissal. Chennai were eventually bowled out for just 140 in 13.4 overs, suffering another disappointing defeat. The loss officially ended CSK’s IPL 2026 playoff hopes as they finished the league stage with only 12 points from 14 matches.
