Lucknow Super Giants youngster Mukul Choudhary has opened up about an inspiring interaction with Virat Kohli during IPL 2026, revealing how the Royal Challengers Bengaluru star advised him to focus on mastering the art of finishing games rather than simply becoming a power-hitter. Mukul has emerged as one of the exciting young batters of the season with his fearless strokeplay and composure under pressure.

His match-winning innings against the Kolkata Knight Riders especially grabbed attention after he calmly guided LSG through a tense chase with aggressive yet controlled batting. Speaking about his conversation with Kohli, Mukul revealed that the former India captain had closely followed his innings against KKR and later shared valuable insights about succeeding in modern T20 cricket.

“When I spoke to him, he told me that he had watched our match against KKR and seen how I finished the game,” Mukul Choudhary told JioStar. “He said that hitting sixes is not a big deal anymore. Every young batter in this generation can clear the ropes. But what really matters is learning how to finish matches.”

The young batter explained that Kohli stressed how pressure situations separate good players from great ones. According to Mukul, the RCB superstar highlighted that batting becomes truly challenging when wickets fall regularly and the required run rate starts climbing in a difficult chase.

“Anyone can hit a six when there’s no pressure. But in chases of 170 or 180, when wickets are falling at the other end and the required rate is climbing, that is when the real test begins,” Mukul Choudhary said.

Kohli also advised the youngster to remain calm in tense situations and learn to control an innings under pressure rather than relying solely on big shots.

“If you learn to handle that pressure, stay calm, and control the innings, that is what makes you a big player. Finishing games consistently is a rare skill,” Mukul Choudhary added while recalling Kohli’s advice. The conversation clearly left a major impact on the LSG batter, who admitted the words continue to stay with him throughout the season. “He told me to focus on that, not just on hitting big shots. That advice really stuck with me,” Mukul said.
