Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s celebrations reached another level after their successful IPL 2026 title defence, thanks to an inspiring message from Director of Cricket Mo Bobat. Moments after RCB defeated Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2026 final on May 31, the franchise’s dressing room was filled with excitement, but Bobat’s bold challenge for the future made the occasion even more memorable.

Addressing the players during the post-match celebrations, Mo Bobat reflected on the team’s remarkable journey before delivering a statement that instantly electrified the room.
“I’ve got one last thing to say… no team’s ever won three in a row,” he declared. The comment immediately sparked loud cheers from the players, who quickly realized the opportunity in front of them. Turning towards captain Rajat Patidar, Bobat asked, “Skipper, what do you reckon? Three in a row?” Rajat Patidar didn’t hesitate. “Definitely,” came the confident reply.

By winning the IPL title in both 2025 and 2026, RCB joined an exclusive club of franchises that have successfully defended their championship. Previously, only Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians had achieved back-to-back IPL triumphs. However, Bobat’s challenge is about something even bigger—becoming the first team in tournament history to win three consecutive IPL titles.
RCB’s success in IPL 2026 was built on consistency, depth, and collective performances. The franchise won 11 of its 16 matches, including crucial victories in Qualifier 1 and the final against the Gujarat Titans. Under Rajat Patidar’s leadership, the team evolved into a well-rounded unit rather than relying solely on Virat Kohli.

Kohli led the batting charts with 675 runs, while Patidar contributed 501 runs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar claimed 28 wickets, and Krunal Pandya delivered valuable all-round performances. Strong support from Josh Hazlewood, Jacob Duffy, Venkatesh Iyer, and Rasikh Salam Dar ensured RCB remained the most complete side of IPL 2026, laying the foundation for a potential historic three-peat in 2027.
