Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s stunning rise has continued after the teenage sensation earned his maiden call-up to the Indian senior team following a sensational IPL 2026 season. The 15-year-old left-hander has been named in India’s squads for the T20I series against Ireland and England, along with the Asian Games, marking a huge step in what has already been a remarkable journey.

With Sooryavanshi entering the national setup, India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak is set to play an important role in shaping his early international experience. Kotak, however, believes the best approach is not to overload the youngster with too many instructions. He explained that players at this level already have their own methods, routines and confidence, and added that a coach must be careful about how much advice to provide and when to provide it.

“See, as a batting coach or any coach, it’s always a challenge to work with a player. Because at this level, they all have their own thinking, their own style, their own way they have succeeded. And then, you try to add something, it always takes time, it always takes the trust for them to believe. And for me, it is so important how much you want to add and when you want to add,” Sitanshu Kotak told India Today.

He further stressed that his job will be to observe Sooryavanshi closely and step in only when needed. According to Kotak, too much coaching can often do more harm than good at the international level.

“Whenever we observe something, we will definitely try to help him in only much as he needs. The more complicated you make it with constant advice, the more cluttered the mind gets,” he said.

Kotak also admitted that he is excited to work with Sooryavanshi, especially after the youngster’s explosive IPL campaign, where he finished as the Orange Cap winner. The former Saurashtra batter praised the teenager’s fearless stroke play and the way he handled elite bowlers despite his age.

“From last year’s IPL and the way he bats, the way he executes those shots, it’s really exciting to be very honest for a 15-year-old. And to all the world-class bowlers, the way he has faced and the way he has succeeded is unbelievable how talented he is. So, I am really excited,” Sitanshu Kotak said.

At the same time, Kotak made it clear that Sooryavanshi will be given space to settle into the international environment naturally. Rather than forcing changes, the focus will be on understanding what helps the teenager perform best as he begins his India journey.
