Alia Bhatt has joined the growing list of admirers praising Jemimah Rodrigues after the India batter’s unforgettable century against Australia in the semi-final of the 2025 Women’s World Cup. Rodrigues played a superb innings of 127 off 134 balls, striking 14 boundaries to steer India to a famous five-wicket win over the defending champions and book a place in the final.

Calling the knock spectacular, Alia said it had the power to inspire countless young girls to take up cricket and chase their dreams with confidence. She also wished the Indian women’s team the best ahead of the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup, where India will open their campaign against Pakistan at Edgbaston on June 14.
Actress Sharvari also praised Rodrigues for the maturity she showed during the chase. Her favourite moment came after the match, when Jemimah chose not to celebrate her personal milestone immediately. Instead, she kept her focus on the team’s finish, celebrating only once India had sealed the victory.

“The biggest moment for me was when you didn’t celebrate your personal milestone and just kept going. You kept your head on your shoulders, your feet on the ground, and kept playing. You celebrated only when India won. That moment was truly special. Wishing you lots of love and the very best of luck for everything that lies ahead,” Sharvari added.
Rodrigues responded warmly to the praise, saying it was special to know that her innings had inspired others. She returned the compliment as well, saying that both actresses had motivated her through their own journeys and achievements.

“It’s really special when other women feel inspired and empowered. In the same way, you keep working hard in your own career, no matter what field you are in, you can always be the best. I think you all have inspired me a lot more. Let’s continue to share this hope with everyone around us,” Jemimah Rodirgues said.
Rodrigues’ match-winning century became one of the defining moments of India’s historic World Cup run. Her performance helped the Women in Blue reach the final, where they defeated South Africa Women by 52 runs to claim their maiden Women’s World Cup title. She finished the tournament as one of India’s standout performers, scoring 292 runs in seven innings.
