Former India batter Wasim Jaffer made a massive statement on youngster Vaibhav Suryavanshi amid the 2026 Tri-Nation A series. Suryavanshi is with the India A team, playing in the tournament being held in Sri Lanka. In a recent match against Sri Lanka A, Vaibhav was involved in an ugly altercation with Vishen Halambage after the match as well. India A lost the Super Over, and the hosts started celebrating a thrilling win as well.

“I feel Vaibhav must learn this. He is playing with a lot of hype and because he has a name now, people will try to provoke him and go against him. He should not retaliate this soon and not at all get physical. I am not saying it may have been his fault. Maybe some of the Sri Lankan players told him something or whatever. But he still needs to understand that being physical is not acceptable no matter what. He needs to control his temper. This should not happen again and you do not want to be in the news for the wrong reason. He is a role model for many young players so he needs to see all this. He will live and learn,” he said on his YouTube channel.

“I feel he needs to control his temper a bit. You cannot react this soon. You have Sachin as a great role model with a similar journey. You never saw anything like this with him. Vaibhav is a fast learner and I am sure his guardians and parents and coaches working with him will be speaking with him,” the former India batter again shared.

After the controversy in the India A and Sri Lanka A clash, Wasim Jaffer also opined on the banter and on-field drama. He added that while it is important to have some spice in the game that also tests a player’s mental strength, it must be within limits as well.

“As long as you don’t cross the line and get personal, all this is fine. A bit of it should be there too as the game is at such a high intensity. It tests your mental strength as well along with your skills. But you have to make sure you do not cross the line,” Wasim Jaffer concluded.
