Team India all-rounder Washington Sundar grabbed attention off the field after Bollywood actress Shreya Dhanwanthary left a witty comment on his latest Instagram post during India’s ongoing tour of England. The 26-year-old cricketer shared a series of candid pictures from the tour on Friday, July 3, giving fans a glimpse of his time away from the cricket field.

The opening picture, which showed Sundar relaxing at a café, particularly caught Dhanwanthary’s eye. Impressed by the shot, the actress playfully praised the photographer in the comments section.

“Whoever took that first photo? Keep them! ❤️,” she wrote, with the comment quickly attracting attention from fans on social media.

Shreya Dhanwanthary made her Bollywood debut opposite Emraan Hashmi in Why Cheat India (2019) and later earned widespread recognition through acclaimed web series such as Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story and The Family Man. Her light-hearted interaction with Sundar has since become a talking point among cricket and entertainment fans alike.

While Sundar has been making headlines on social media, his recent outings on the field have been less memorable. The all-rounder featured in the opening T20I against Ireland but endured a difficult game, conceding 19 runs in his only over and scoring just nine runs from 12 deliveries as India suffered a 34-run defeat.

Following the loss, former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin questioned how Sundar was being used in the T20I setup, suggesting the team management had not defined a consistent role for him.

“The team management has backed Washington Sundar. His place has been confirmed in this Indian team. But I just feel that Washington Sundar plays in the team, but his role is not there. He is on the field but gets just one over, or doesn’t get a single over at times,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.

Sundar was left out of the playing XI for the second T20I against Ireland and remained on the bench for the rain-hit first T20I against England, where India posted 189/7 before the match ended without a result. With the second T20I set to be played at Old Trafford, Manchester, all eyes will be on whether the all-rounder returns to the playing XI.
