Vaibhav Suryavanshi was spotted working in the nets ahead of the second T20I between England and India, which is scheduled to be played in Manchester on Saturday, July 4. The 15-year-old continues to attract attention as fans wait to see whether he will finally make his senior India debut in the ongoing series.

During the practice session, Suryavanshi, who was padded up and waiting for his turn, was seen in an intense discussion with teammate Tilak Varma. Tilak was also in full gear and preparing to bat when the young left-hander walked over for what appeared to be a serious conversation. Suryavanshi was also seen tossing a ball as the two discussed something at length.
The youngster was not included in India’s playing XI for the rain-hit opening T20I. India had won the toss and posted a competitive 189 for 7, but the match was eventually abandoned without a result after persistent rain prevented England from beginning their chase.

Suryavanshi was also left out of the two T20Is against Ireland, which means he is still waiting for his international debut. With four matches remaining in the England series, there is growing expectation that the explosive opener could finally get his chance soon.

Several former cricketers have already backed India to hand him a place in the side. Former India all-rounder and coach Ravi Shastri has been especially vocal, saying the teenager should have featured much earlier. Shastri was frustrated that Suryavanshi was not used in Ireland, where he felt the conditions would have suited the youngster perfectly.
“Arre voh khelna chahiye thha yaar in Ireland. It was a slow track with spongy bounce there. He would have given it a hammering there. So he should have played there. But here in England, I am not sure whether they will play him or not. However, he should play as soon as possible. He smashed everyone in the IPL. Which fast bowler did he spare? And here you are making him warm the bench,” Ravi Shastri said on Sony Sports Network.

Suryavanshi has earned the spotlight with a superb run of form. He won the Orange Cap in IPL 2026 after piling up 776 runs at an average of 48.50 and a strike rate of 237.30, including one century and five half-centuries. He also impressed with a blistering 29-ball 94 in the final of the Tri-Nation series against Sri Lanka A.
