Aakash Chopra has picked Gurnoor Brar as the most impressive young fast bowler in Indian cricket at the moment, backing the promising seamer after his standout showing in the second unofficial Test between India A and Sri Lanka A at the Galle International Stadium. Brar delivered a match-winning performance with the ball, taking four wickets in Sri Lanka A’s first innings and following it up with six more in the second.

His 10-wicket haul proved decisive as India A wrapped up the contest with a 10-wicket victory and sealed the two-match series 1-0. For a young pacer trying to build momentum at the higher level, it was exactly the kind of spell that catches the eye.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra did not hold back in his praise when asked to name a fast bowler with major potential. “Gurnoor Brar. As much as we have seen him, the guy is impressive. He has picked up 10 wickets just now against Sri Lanka A. He was picking up wickets in all the games he played for India,” he said.

Brar had already made an impression during India’s ODI series against Afghanistan last month. While Chopra admitted that Afghanistan were not the strongest opposition, he stressed that the bowler still had to make the most of the opportunity in front of him.
Gurnoor Brar ended the series with seven wickets in three matches, finishing as the leading wicket-taker across both teams. “Of course, Afghanistan was in front of him. So it wasn’t that big an opposition, but it’s not his mistake what opposition you keep in front of him. So Gurnoor Brar looks like a very, very good prospect,” Chopra noted.

The former India opener also explained why Brar is so effective, pointing to his height, high-arm action and ability to generate steep bounce. According to Chopra, those natural attributes help the Gujarat Titans pacer get extra lift off the surface while also allowing the ball to swing and seam after pitching. “He is constantly telling us that the guy is special. He has got the skills,” he said.

Chopra also mentioned Prince Yadav and Mohsin Khan as other exciting fast-bowling options, but made it clear that Brar is currently leading the race among India’s young pacers. For now, the spotlight firmly belongs to Gurnoor Brar, who continues to emerge as one of Indian cricket’s brightest new bowling talents.
