The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that Shivam Dube will replace the injured Nitish Kumar Reddy in India’s squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England. The updated squad announcement also brought positive news for Team India, as Virat Kohli has been declared fit after successfully completing his rehabilitation.

Nitish Kumar Reddy was ruled out of both the Ireland and England tours after aggravating a left quadriceps injury during the third ODI against Afghanistan in Chennai last month. The all-rounder is currently recovering at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, with the aim of returning for India’s two-Test series against Sri Lanka in August.

The BCCI’s revised squad also removed the fitness asterisk next to Virat Kohli’s name, indicating that the star batter has fully recovered from the hamstring injury he sustained after the IPL 2026 final. Kohli had missed the ODI series against Afghanistan as part of his recovery but is now available for selection against England.

The ODI series carries significant importance for India as preparations begin for the 2027 ODI World Cup. With senior players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma expected to lead the batting unit, the series offers an opportunity for the experienced duo to reaffirm their place as key figures in India’s long-term plans.

For Shivam Dube, the call-up presents a valuable chance to strengthen his claim as India’s premier pace-bowling all-rounder. With Hardik Pandya also unavailable due to injury and Nitish Kumar Reddy sidelined, Dube has an excellent opportunity to impress the selectors and improve his standing in the national team’s all-rounder hierarchy with strong performances against England.
