Ahead of the third T20I between India and England, veteran commentator Aakash Chopra has said all the records Abhishek Sharma has set since his international debut. He also stated that the star opener has scored the most runs for Team India in the T20 format in this period. However, Abhishek will open the batting for the visitors with Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the third T20I match against England in Nottingham on Tuesday, July 7.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, ‘Aakash Chopra,’ he said, “On July 6, which was yesterday, Abhishek Sharma completed two years since his T20I debut, and since his debut, he has the highest strike rate (192.83) amongst all top nations. He has the highest score (135) for India. He has hit the most sixes in the world. He has hit more than 100 sixes. No one has hit more sixes than him in the same time period.”
“He has scored the most runs for India since his debut. He has scored almost 1,590 runs. He has hit the most boundaries, and I am not talking about India here. He has the most 50-plus scores (13) across the globe since his debut. He is the second youngest Indian to score 1,500 runs,” he further added.

“He is No. 2 in the ICC rankings at the moment, and was No. 1 for a very long time. He has taken the fewest balls (785) to reach 100 sixes. Vaibhav Suryavanshi might break this record someday. He has the second-most fifties with a strike rate of more than 200. He has done that nine times. He has the most fifties for India in less than 20 balls. He has done that five times,” he added.

However, Aakash Chopra also stated that England have an opening problem, as Jos Buttler and Phil Salt haven’t fired as a pair in 2026.
“When I look at England, I feel their openers are a problem. Their openers are not really firing. Their average as an opening pair in 2026 is 12.1. Your numbers are the worst among all full-member nations. Big names but hardly any performances. Both didn’t open their account in the last match as well,” he said.
“There isn’t even one half-century partnership in 15 T20I innings. It means things are not looking that great. So this is a problem for sure. The entire World Cup passed, and they haven’t really fired. 15 T20Is is a huge sample size in which both these openers haven’t done well. Quite bizarre, right?” he concluded.
