Former India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav’s latest X post has gone viral as he extended his support to the Indian team and teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi while also flagging false quotes circulating in his name. The former skipper said he remains behind the team and wishes the youngsters nothing but success.
Suryakumar, who was removed from the T20I captaincy after a lean run with the bat, reserved a special message for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, calling the teenager’s journey “very exciting” and backing him to make the country proud. The 15-year-old from Bihar created history by becoming the youngest player to represent India when he made his debut in the second T20I against England at Old Trafford, breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s long-standing age record.
“I am very happy for the team. I wish them nothing but the very best, always. I know the boys are giving their all and they will always have my full support,” Suryakumar Yadav wrote on Tuesday.

He then added a message for the young opener: “A special word for Vaibhav: you are at the start of what promises to be a very exciting journey. Enjoy every moment and keep making the country proud.”

Suryakumar also clarified that a statement being circulated online was fake and had been wrongly attributed to him. While he did not specify which quote he was referring to, misleading posts and fabricated remarks have become increasingly common on social media, especially around high-profile cricket stories.

The timing of the post is significant, coming after Suryakumar’s own captaincy exit. Despite leading India to the T20 World Cup title on home soil earlier this year, he was later replaced by Shreyas Iyer following a prolonged dip in form with the bat.
His message, however, showed support for the next generation and underlined his belief that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has a bright future ahead in Indian cricket.
