Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer opined on Team India star and captain Shreyas Iyer amid the T20I series against England. The Indian team suffered a disappointing 125-run loss in the third T20I. Shreyas Iyer is yet to register his first win as T20I captain, having lost four out of five matches with one no result as well. Wasim Jaffer also stated that he was clearly
under pressure.

“I think Shreyas will be under pressure as he has come in with a lot of hype. The way we have been dominating in white-ball and are world champions, after IPL, we have not won a single game. He will be under stress as he is the new captain, replacing an ICC-winning captain. So it was a big and bold decision. That pressure will be there if things are not going well. In such moments, such statements also come out. We have to understand that he is under a lot of pressure. He will realise what to say and what not to,” he said on his YouTube channel.

“In the subcontinent, we want the results very quickly, That is the mentality, irrespective of whether we have thought long term or short term. There is a lot of pressure through media or public,” he further added.

Wasim Jaffer also added that this Indian team has the potential and would bounce back as well. He shared that one good game and a win would help them gain the confidence back.
“India has the potential. They will bounce back. You will need some special performances through somebody, be it in batting or bowling. If we play one game well and win, the confidence will comeback and we can bounce back without a doubt,” he concluded.
