During the 13th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils at Kolkata, Kuldeep Yadav came back from behind to earn the prized scalp of Glenn Maxwell. The dismissal was more of a revenge sequence for the 23-year old left-arm chinaman bowler.
After being put in to bat by Gautam Gambhir, Kolkata Knight Riders scored 200-9 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Nitish Rana (59) and Andre Russell (41) were the two batsmen who did maximum damage to the Daredevils’ bowling attack.
In the second innings, Delhi Daredevils kept losing wickets at regular intervals to the extent that Maxwell was their only surviving hope at one point in time. Maxwell came in to bat at No. 4 and stitched a 62-run partnership with Rishabh Pant (43).
On the third ball of the 11th over being bowled by Yadav, Maxwell slogged him but failed to make the required impact. However, Shivam Mavi’s mis-field earned him six runs. Maxwell followed it up with another six through the midwicket region. This time it was a convincing shot.
On the penultimate delivery of the over, Yadav bowled a short delivery, which called for another gigantic hit. That being said, Maxwell hit it straight to Robin Uthappa at deep midwicket as Yadav got his revenge. Maxwell ended up scoring 47 (22) with the help of three fours and four sixes.
