The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken a thoughtful step to support teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi by allowing his parents to accompany him during India’s recent tours of Ireland and England. According to a Sportstar report, the board approved the arrangement to help the 15-year-old adapt to the demands of international cricket and life on the road after his maiden call-up to the senior national team.

Sooryavanshi earned his place in the Indian squad following a sensational IPL 2026 campaign with the Rajasthan Royals. The young left-hander finished as the tournament’s highest run-scorer with 776 runs, including a century and five half-centuries. His remarkable performances also earned him the Most Valuable Player and Emerging Player awards, firmly establishing him as one of Indian cricket’s brightest young talents.
Explaining the decision, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia revealed that the board wanted to ensure the youngster had the right support system during the early stages of his international career.

“As he is a child, we have decided to allow his parents to accompany him to Ireland and England, so that they can be with him and help him settle in the new environment. The Board will cover all their expenses,” Devajit Saikia told Sportstar.
Sooryavanshi is currently representing India A in Sri Lanka, where he is preparing for the upcoming tri-nation series as he continues his rapid development.

Meanwhile, BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar recently expressed immense confidence in the teenager, stating that the youngster had virtually selected himself through his extraordinary IPL performances. Agarkar highlighted Sooryavanshi’s ability to deliver under pressure and praised the maturity he has displayed despite his young age.

“We’ve seen what he can do. Towards the playoffs, he almost single-handedly carried the Rajasthan Royals. For someone so young, it’s not just about how well he’s batting but the consistency he’s shown. To perform in such a high-pressure tournament and back it up with explosive performances speaks volumes. Like everyone who has watched T20 cricket in India, we have very high hopes for him. He has truly picked himself,” Ajit Agarkar said during the squad announcement at the BCCI headquarters.
With the backing of the selectors and the emotional support of his family, Sooryavanshi now embarks on the next chapter of his promising career as one of India’s most exciting cricketing prospects.
