Saikia has also secured a place on the ICC’s newly established Franchise Leagues Committee, highlighting India’s growing influence in global cricket administration. The committee will be chaired by former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal and includes Cricket Namibia’s Dr Rudie van Vuuren, ECB chief executive Richard Gould, and Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg.

The panel will focus on the rapid growth and regulation of franchise cricket worldwide. During the annual meetings, the ICC approved a USD 12.82 million loan to Cricket West Indies to help address the board’s short-term cash-flow requirements.

The ICC also reviewed Sri Lanka Cricket’s progress toward implementing a revised constitution. While acknowledging the developments, the governing body reiterated that elections should be conducted at the earliest. Until then, Sri Lanka Cricket will continue to remain suspended from representation at ICC Board meetings.

In another key administrative decision, the ICC ratified the appointment of Bangladesh Cricket Board president Tamim Iqbal as a Full Member Director on the ICC Board.

Meanwhile, the ICC expanded its global footprint by granting Mauritius official membership, taking its total membership to 111 countries. However, Cricket Canada’s suspension remains in place until it satisfies the ICC’s governance requirements. France Cricket has also been placed on notice for breaching the ICC’s Membership Criteria, with the governing body warning that further action could follow if the concerns are not addressed.
