Former India cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Shikhar Dhawan have appealed for calm and patience amid the ongoing protests in New Delhi over alleged examination irregularities. The demonstrations, led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), began on July 20, with protesters demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over claims of irregularities in competitive examinations.

As the protests continue to gain national attention, the Delhi High Court has stepped in, directing the Centre and Delhi Police to respond to public interest litigations (PILs) alleging excessive use of force during the July 20 march to Parliament. The court also instructed authorities to preserve all relevant evidence, including CCTV footage and video recordings, to ensure a fair examination of the allegations.

Reacting to the developments, former India opener Shikhar Dhawan urged people to remain patient while placing their trust in the country’s institutions. In a post on X, Dhawan acknowledged the aspirations of India’s youth and stressed that their concerns deserve to be heard.

“Youth is the future of our nation. It is essential to understand their dreams, but at the same time, it is equally important to maintain patience in difficult times and keep faith in the country’s institutions and government,” Dhawan wrote. “I believe that the solution to every challenge emerges with patience. India has always moved forward and will continue to progress.”

Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh also shared a heartfelt message, calling for unity and constructive dialogue to resolve the issue peacefully.

“To every child, student, woman and man: you deserve the opportunity to learn in peace, grow with safety and chase your dreams,” Yuvraj wrote on his Instagram Stories. “Your well-being is the foundation of a brighter India. Let’s come together to build communities of care, opportunity and hope. Through dialogue we can find an amicable solution for the sake of India’s future.”

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated that the welfare of the country’s youth remains a top priority for the government. In a post on X, he announced the decision to establish fast-track courts to ensure swift and stringent punishment for those found guilty in paper leak cases, while asserting that anyone attempting to jeopardise the future of India’s youth would face strict action.
