India opener Abhishek Sharma received strong backing from former T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav after enduring a disappointing three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe. Despite India’s dominant 3-0 series sweep, Abhishek struggled to make an impact with the bat, managing just 11 runs across three innings.
Ranked No. 2 in the ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings, the left-handed opener had an uncharacteristically difficult tour. He registered scores of 4, 5, and 2, falling short of the high expectations created by his impressive performances over the past two years.

Although Abhishek endured a lean series, India comfortably completed a 3-0 clean sweep over Zimbabwe. The standout performer was teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who announced himself on the international stage with scores of 50 off 18, 20 off 9, and 81 off 49. The 15-year-old was named both Player of the Match and Player of the Series, becoming the youngest cricketer in men’s international cricket to win the Player of the Series award, capping off a memorable breakthrough series for the rising star.
