Sanjana Ganesan, sports presenter and wife of India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, recently shared a heartwarming story about their son, Angad Bumrah, revealing that the two-year-old already prefers football over cricket. The amusing anecdote, shared during a sports podcast, has quickly gone viral across social media, delighting fans with a glimpse into the Bumrah family’s life away from the cricket field.

Speaking during the podcast, Sanjana revealed that Angad has already made his sporting preference clear at home. According to her, the youngster has told his father that he enjoys football more than cricket and has even started attending football coaching classes. She joked that Jasprit Bumrah was slightly disappointed to hear his son choose football over the sport that made him one of the world’s best fast bowlers.

Sanjana added that if Angad eventually decides to pursue football professionally, the family might have to relocate to Europe, where the sport offers greater opportunities for young players. However, she emphasised that the conversation was purely light-hearted and should not be taken too seriously, considering Angad is only two years old and still has plenty of time to discover his interests.

Jasprit Bumrah and Sanjana Ganesan tied the knot on March 15, 2021, and welcomed their son, Angad, on September 4, 2023. Since becoming parents, the couple have often shared adorable moments from their family life on social media.

Unlike many celebrities who prefer to keep their children away from the public eye, Bumrah and Sanjana have taken a more open approach. They occasionally post pictures and videos featuring Angad and are comfortable taking him to public events, offering fans rare glimpses into their personal lives. Alongside her family responsibilities, Sanjana has established herself as one of India’s leading sports presenters, hosting several major cricket tournaments, including the 2023 and 2024 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cups.

Meanwhile, Bumrah is preparing for his return to competitive cricket. The premier Indian pacer is expected to be available for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka in August, subject to receiving medical clearance. After sustaining an injury during the recent England tour, Bumrah has been undergoing rehabilitation and is working towards regaining full fitness. His return would provide a significant boost to India’s pace attack as the team begins another important Test assignment.
