Sunrisers Leeds have removed a video featuring their men’s team singing a newly introduced victory song after it sparked widespread criticism from fans on social media following their five-run win over Southern Brave in The Hundred at Headingley. The now-deleted clip showed players and members of the support staff performing an adapted version of “Marching On Together,” the iconic anthem associated with Leeds United and Leeds Rhinos.

Holding laminated lyric sheets, the squad sang the modified version after the victory, with the franchise sharing the video on social media alongside the caption, “traditions” and an orange heart emoji. However, the post quickly attracted negative reactions, with many supporters questioning the use of the word “traditions” for a franchise that has played only two matches since its recent rebrand.

Although Sunrisers Leeds deleted the post, the video continues to circulate across other social media platforms after being downloaded and reposted by users. Fans also mocked the performance, claiming the players struggled to match the original tune.

The incident has once again highlighted the growing divide between The Hundred’s newly rebranded franchises and sections of their traditional fan base. Several supporters have expressed concerns over the identity changes introduced by the new ownership groups, and attendance figures have also reflected those challenges despite increased investment in overseas stars.

Sunrisers Leeds’ victory over Southern Brave drew a crowd of 11,628 at Headingley, considerably lower than the venue’s average men’s Hundred attendance of 14,492 recorded last season.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Sunrisers CEO Kaviya Maran acknowledged the importance of connecting with supporters. “We need to get the crowds in,” Maran said. “It’s a good beginning. Obviously, this is a new brand for them. The great news is they seem to love the orange. That’s exciting. We’ll just grow from here.”
