India’s Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill is gearing up for a packed schedule, with the star batter set to lead the national team in the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka before joining the inaugural edition of the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League later this month. India will begin its two-match Test series against Sri Lanka on August 15 in Galle, with the second and final Test scheduled to be played in Colombo from August 23.

Once the tour concludes, Gill will quickly shift his focus to domestic cricket by featuring in Punjab’s newly launched T20 competition. According to The Indian Express, Gill, who is currently not part of India’s T20I setup, is expected to participate in the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League, which begins on August 30, just two days after the Sri Lanka tour ends.
He is likely to be joined by fellow Punjab cricketer Gurnoor Brar following national commitments, while India T20I stars Arshdeep Singh and Abhishek Sharma are also expected to headline the tournament. Speaking at a promotional event, Shubman Gill praised the Punjab Cricket Association for launching the competition and said it would provide a valuable pathway for emerging cricketers.
