One of the most bizarre run-outs in recent cricket history unfolded during the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 on Tuesday, August 4, as Himmat Singh produced an extraordinary last-ball dismissal to force a tie between the New Delhi Tigers and Outer Delhi Warriors. What appeared to be a certain winning run turned into an unbelievable twist after Himmat accidentally kicked the ball onto the stumps following a costly misfield.
Chasing 156 in a rain-curtailed 15-over contest at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Outer Delhi Warriors needed just one run from the final delivery. Tigers pacer Laxman delivered a pinpoint yorker outside off stump, forcing batter Pratham Saluja to mistime his shot towards mid-off.
Himmat Singh sprinted in to collect the ball but failed to gather it cleanly as it slipped off his wrists. Frustrated by the error, he instinctively kicked the ball in anger. In an astonishing turn of events, the ball rolled straight into the stumps, dislodging the bails before Saluja could complete the winning run. The incredible run-out left players and spectators stunned, with the match ending in a dramatic tie at 155-155.

Despite the heartbreak, Outer Delhi Warriors regrouped brilliantly to clinch the Super Over and register their first victory of the DPL 2026 season.
Earlier, New Delhi Tigers had posted a competitive 155/5, courtesy of a match-defining 101-run partnership between Himmat Singh and Lakshay Thareja. Himmat smashed a blistering 61 off 25 balls, while Thareja anchored the innings with an unbeaten 62 from 41 deliveries.

In reply, the Warriors found themselves in deep trouble at 80/5 before Monu Shukla produced a stunning counterattack, hammering 45 runs off just 17 balls to drag his side back into contention. He then carried his momentum into the Super Over, playing a decisive role in helping the Warriors post 20 runs before the Tigers fell short in the chase.
Speaking after the thrilling victory, Monu Shukla admitted the win was a huge confidence booster for his team. “It feels great to register our first win of the season. We had come very close in the previous match but couldn’t finish the job, so the team was naturally disappointed. This victory has given us a lot of confidence, and everyone is very happy with the result.”

Recalling the unbelievable final-ball drama, the all-rounder said the Warriors initially believed they had sealed victory after the misfield.
“Initially, when the fielder fumbled, we thought the game was ours. But when the ball hit the stumps, it was a heartbreaking moment for us. Thankfully, we stayed positive, won the Super Over, and in the end, luck smiled on us.”
