Former England captain Jos Buttler named Team India star batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi to break his newly-achieved world record during the 2026 Hundred season. Playing for the Manchester Super Giants against the Welsh Fire, Buttler became the all-time leading run-scorer in T20 history during his 20-ball 51* as well.

However, Jos Buttler overtook former West Indian Kieron Pollard to top the list of T20 run-scorers with a huge 14,833 runs. He also has nine T20 centuries and 106 fifties to his name.

“Yeah it’s really cool actually to think you’ve got the most T20 runs out of everyone. Someone will surpass it one day, and his name’s probably Suryavanshi. But no, it’s a proud moment. Actually, we played against MI London in the last game, would’ve been nice to get past Polly while he was there, sat in the dugout. Some great names on there, some special players, so yeah, I’m really proud of that,” said Buttler (via Star Sports).

However, Jos Buttler praised Vaibhav Suryavanshi earlier in the year, calling him the best player ever. Buttler said this after Suryavanshi helped India win the Under-19 World Cup with a swashbuckling 175 off 80 deliveries in the final against England.

“My statement about Suryavanshi is: he’s the best player I’ve ever seen. If he’s doing that at 14, what’s he going to be doing at 16, 18, or 20? I played in the game where he got 100 in the IPL. Even as a 14-year-old at that point, playing against an attack of Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Rashid Khan—proper bowling attacks—I was in awe of these shots,” said Buttler (via Hindustan Times).
