Former India player turned commentator Aakash Chopra has opined that the Delhi Capitals (DC) would not give Ashutosh Sharma to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in exchange for Rahul Chahar as well. While stating that DC need a spinner
after trading out Kuldeep Yadav to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), he added that Chahar might not be a suitable replacement.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, ‘Aakash Chopra,’ he said, “Everyone is saying that he is an all-rounder, so why is Delhi letting him go? However, is Delhi letting him go? I am not sure. They will not give him in exchange for Rahul Chahar. Yes, they have let Kuldeep go, and they need a spinner, but will Rahul Chahar be that spinner? It’s a big question, and if they have to give Ashutosh in exchange for him, then it’s a bad trade. In my opinion, that trade is skewed in favor of Chennai. Chennai will be very happy if they get Ashutosh. Hopefully, they will be able to use him better than Delhi did.”

“Delhi will be the loser. Why will Delhi let go of Ashutosh? Play Ashutosh. He is an incredible batter down the order. Now he also bowls a little, and although it’s a separate issue how much his bowling would work in the IPL, Delhi shouldn’t let him go. Definitely not for Rahul Chahar. It won’t be the right thing if they do that,” Chopra again shared.

However, Aakash Chopra also chose the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) when he was asked about the best team for Hardik Pandya in IPL 2027 as well.

“Every team can make a place for Hardik Pandya. However, the best team for him would be one where a captain is required. KKR and LSG – these two teams need a captain. So it will be good if he goes in either of the two directions. Who can LSG give? They will have to put a foreigner because they can’t give an Indian batter, and they can add an Indian bowler with him, which is a great thing,” he said.

“If I look at it from KKR’s point of view, they can give an overseas all-rounder – Cameron Green, but I would say you need to be slightly wary in a World Cup year, or else they can also give a bowler. They can give Harshit Rana or Varun Chakaravarthy, although they might not be interested in Varun,” he concluded.
