Delhi Capitals wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel has reportedly been arrested in connection with a harassment case, according to a report by ABP Ananda. The development comes weeks after the Calcutta High Court directed the police to take steps towards his arrest. According to the report, a woman alleged that Porel was in a relationship with her after promising marriage. She further accused the cricketer of allegedly threatening to circulate objectionable photographs and blackmailing her.

A case was registered against Porel under multiple sections, including several non-bailable offences. Hooghly (Rural) Superintendent of Police Kunar Bhushan Singh confirmed the arrest. “There was a case lodged against him and a court order to arrest him. He was arrested late last night. He will be produced in court today,” Singh told PTI.
During an earlier hearing, Calcutta High Court Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya directed Magra Police Station in Hooghly to seize electronic devices, including the mobile phone allegedly in Porel’s possession. The court also sought a report detailing the action taken by the police.

The FIR contains serious allegations against the cricketer. The complainant alleged that she was unlawfully confined, denied food and deliberately isolated, which allegedly left her physically weak and unable to walk properly.
The complaint also refers to an alleged incident in Delhi on April 2, 2026, in which the woman claimed she was confined and denied food. These allegations remain part of the complaint and have not been established in court.

According to the complainant, she and Porel were in a relationship and their families had even discussed marriage. She alleged that the relationship later deteriorated after she learned of his alleged involvement with other women, eventually leading to their separation.
The matter reached the Calcutta High Court after the complainant approached the court, following which the police were directed to take appropriate steps as part of the investigation. Porel, however, has denied the allegations made against him. The investigation is ongoing, and further legal proceedings will determine the facts of the case.
