India cricketers Sai Sudharsan, Washington Sundar, and Varun Chakaravarthy were recently spotted enjoying biryani together at a popular restaurant in Bengaluru. The outing came as the trio continued their rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) while India battled Sri Lanka in the first Test of the two-match series in Galle.

Sudharsan was initially included in India’s Test squad subject to fitness clearance. However, the left-hander failed to recover from his right toe injury in time and was subsequently ruled out of the Sri Lanka series. His absence opened the door for Devdutt Padikkal, who grabbed the opportunity with both hands by scoring a magnificent 167 in the first innings at Galle.
Washington Sundar is also recovering from a right hamstring injury sustained during the second ODI against England in Cardiff on July 16. Meanwhile, Varun Chakaravarthy suffered a hamstring issue during the T20I series against England and has also been undergoing rehabilitation.

The trio share a strong connection, having represented Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket, making their Bengaluru outing a reunion of sorts amid their respective injury recoveries.
Meanwhile, India made a strong start to the Galle Test after captain Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to bat. The visitors posted 462 in their first innings, with Padikkal’s 167 off 230 balls, including 15 fours and a six, standing out.

Sri Lanka was subsequently bowled out for 284 before India was dismissed for 193 in their second innings. Rishabh Pant top-scored with 66 off 69 balls, while Padikkal contributed 44. With Sri Lanka chasing 372, the hosts were 105/4 at the time of writing, still requiring 267 runs for victory.
