Former India cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra slammed fake news involving Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sanju Samson. A fake post on the social media platform X made headlines, where the interviewer asked Samson whether he would want to lead Chennai, with Ruturaj having failed as the captain. Samson responded, saying that he would definitely want to lead the franchise and also called Gaikwad a poor captain, as they won nothing under him as well.

Aakash Chopra read out the question, Samson’s answer, shared how people reacted to the same, and finally busted the fake news as well, as no such interview actually took place as well.

“Samson said that he is ready to take on any responsibility for CSK, which is correct, and it sounds correct. The interviewer asked, ‘With Ruturaj failing, would you like to lead CSK? He answered, ‘I am absolutely ready to do anything needed, and anyway CSK have not won anything in his captaincy. In fact, he is a very poor captain. If you give him the best XI of the World also, he cannot win anything. So I am ready.’ He has said this,” Chopra said in a video on his Instagram handle.

People are reading this post and interacting with it and are saying this is perfect. Sanju is the perfect choice for captaincy. People are saying give him one chance, and he will prove himself. In the end, some people have called it out, asking for the link to the interview. This interview does not exist. Samson has not said this at all. It is fake news. This interview never happened. Sanju never said this,” he concluded.
Notably, Sanju Samson was traded to CSK from Rajasthan Royals (RR) ahead of the IPL 2026 season. While he was the captain at RR, Gaikwad continued to lead the five-time champions despite Sanju Samson’s inclusion as well.
