Former India cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin said that star opener Yashasvi Jaiswal’s poor form can prove to be a concern for Team India, but he backed the youngster to respond with a huge score in the second Test against Sri Lanka. However, he has only one fifty in his last eight innings in the format as well and got out on a duck in his most recent outing as well.

“KL Rahul continued his form, he came in to bat after cramps but could not get his hundred, but I think it was fantastic from him. Yashasvi Jaiswal was unlucky in the first innings, and the way he got out, he can relook that, that second-innings dismissal of his. He is a very, very good player, but his recent form has not supported him,” he said on his YouTube channel.

“I think clarity of mind is really important for Yashasvi, and I really hope he can come back to that, concentrate well on his batting, and score a big one. Despite having so much talent, he is going through this phase, anybody can go through this phase, but for Yashasvi, I am waiting for him to score runs,” he further added.

However, coming into the Test series, Yashasvi Jaiswal had a lot of white-ball cricket behind him, where he played in India’s home ODI series against Afghanistan and the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, and he had quite a mixed campaign there as well.
