Former India pacer turned commentator Venkatesh Prasad applauded Devdutt Padikkal for his stunning batting in the first Test against Sri Lanka. He played a key role in India’s 165-run victory as well. Venkatesh Prasad was impressed with the way he batted and described the technical aspects that showed Padikkal’s stellar form as well.

He also added that the youngster scored consistently across formats in domestic cricket and that he has been serious about his batting, having worked hard on it as well.

“You can’t take any credit away from that performance. Superlative performance. He was solid in his defense, in his shot selection, and there was not a single shot that he played across. It was all through the line, with the spin, using his feet, playing on both sides. It shows a man in form throughout the season. We spoke about that, and I already said that he got a lot of runs in the domestic circuit and then carried on that form and momentum into the shorter format,” he expressed.
