Former India batter turned commentator Aakash Chopra slammed fake news circulating on social media regarding RCB star and former India pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar ahead of the 2027 World Cup. The veteran pacer is currently playing in the UP T20 League as well. A fake statement from Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s RCB teammate Virat Kohli has been doing the rounds, in which he backed the pacer to make it to the Indian team for the 2027 World Cup as well. Further, Aakash Chopra brought another fake post to light, where it was claimed that Bhuvneshwar had already been picked for the ODI side as well.

However, Aakash Chopra busted the fake news, claiming that neither did Kohli make a statement nor was any such team picked as well.

“Virat Kohli has said that a bowler like Bhuvneshwar Kumar does not come around very often. His ability to swing and seam is brilliant, and he should definitely be there in the 2027 World Cup team. This is Kohli’s statement. There was one more breaking news that Bhuvneshwar is already selected for the ODI team,” he said in a video on his Instagram handle.

People started congratulating him and praising the BCCI. It is believable that such a thing can happen, and it is also our confirmation bias, as many people want him to be there. But neither has Kohli said such a thing, nor has any team been picked. We do want him to be there, but this is fake news,” he concluded.

However, Bhuvneshwar Kumar last played an ODI in 2022. His stunning form in the last two IPL seasons, where he picked up 45 wickets combined and played a key role in back-to-back title wins for RCB, sparked a debate that he deserves to
return to the national team as well.
