Former West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard has once again etched his name into the T20 cricket record books, becoming the highest run-scorer in the history of the format. The Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) star surpassed Jos Buttler’s tally of 14,890 runs during the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 clash against Saint Lucia Kings on Thursday (Wednesday local time).

Pollard had earlier overtaken Chris Gayle to become the leading run-scorer in T20 cricket. However, his record was briefly taken away by Buttler in August 2026 when the England batter represented Manchester Super Giants in The Hundred. Pollard has now reclaimed the top spot with another explosive innings.

The 39-year-old needed 35 runs to move past Buttler and delivered in emphatic fashion. Batting at No. 6 during TKR’s 212-run chase at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Pollard smashed 65 runs from just 26 deliveries. His blistering innings came at a remarkable strike rate of 250 and included six fours and five sixes.

The knock took Pollard’s career T20 tally to 14,921 runs from 666 innings across 749 matches. His consistency and longevity across franchise cricket have helped him remain one of the most prolific batters in the history of the shortest format.

Pollard will now have an opportunity to become the first batter to reach the landmark of 15,000 T20 runs. He can achieve the feat when Trinbago Knight Riders face Barbados Tridents at the Brian Lara Stadium in their next CPL 2026 fixture on Friday (Saturday IST).

Pollard’s latest assault also strengthened his position among the biggest six-hitters in T20 cricket. His five maximums against Saint Lucia Kings took his career tally to 1,010 sixes.

With 15,000 runs and Gayle’s sixes record both within reach, Pollard’s remarkable CPL 2026 campaign could add another chapter to his already decorated T20 career.
