The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reportedly objected to Sky Sports airing an interview with the sons of former Pakistan captain Imran Khan during the ongoing Test series in England. The interview was broadcast during the lunch interval on Day 1 of the second Test at Lord’s, prompting a reported complaint from the PCB.

Imran Khan has been imprisoned in Pakistan for nearly three years. His sons have previously raised concerns about his health and alleged that authorities are deliberately putting his life at risk, claims that remain disputed.

The interview was conducted by former England captain Michael Atherton and was eventually broadcast after being delayed. Despite the controversy surrounding its airing, Pakistan’s players returned to the field and continued the Test match as scheduled.

Pakistan head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed said he was unaware of the issue when asked about the interview after the second day’s play on Friday. His focus, he stressed, remained on the cricket. “I don’t know anything. I’m just focusing on the match.”

When asked specifically about the interview, Sarfaraz Ahmed added, “We don’t know about the interview.” He was also questioned about reports that Pakistan could have refused to return to the field after the broadcast. “All are OK. We were having lunch at that time,” Sarfaraz said.

According to reports, the PCB lodged a formal complaint with Sky Sports over the interview. The board also reportedly warned that Pakistan’s players could potentially refuse to return to the field if the programme was aired. Imran Khan remains one of the most celebrated figures in Pakistan cricket. He captained the national team to its only ODI World Cup triumph in 1992, cementing his status as one of the country’s greatest sporting icons.
