Team India pace bowler Gurnoor Brar recently shared his mindset following India’s 1-0 Test series victory over Sri Lanka. He said the importance of not letting his confidence drop when the pitches don’t offer enough assistance to bowlers as well. He also stated that his focus is on making the batters feel that they’re not in the game when he is bowling.

Speaking about this, Gurnoor Brar said during an interview with RevSportz: “First of all, you need to develop your mindset. If you think that there is nothing on the wicket, you’re already one step behind the batter. But I don’t let that get in the way. I always want to make the batters feel that when I’m bowling, you’re not in the game.”

“I am happy with that performance because it was a slow wicket. If a pacer takes wickets on such a wicket, it’s a very good feeling. I gained more confidence after that performance, realizing that I could bowl on any wicket. The player and ground don’t matter to me; it’s just me vs me,” he again shared.

Gurnoor Brar made his ODI debut against Afghanistan on June 13 and, since then, has played six ODIs, where he picked up 11 wickets with an average of 32.81. He also said that watching the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and
Prasidh Krishna has helped him a lot as well.
“Obviously, I was selected in the Indian team based on my Ranji Trophy and India A performances. So, I stuck to that. But the learning was how I could be consistent with my lengths and how to bowl to different batters according to the wicket. I spent time with Morne sir and Gambhir sir. Obviously, Boom bhai (Jasprit Bumrah), Siraj bhai, and Prasidh bhai were there, and you gain experience by watching them closely,” Gurnoor Brar concluded.
