India and Afghanistan will begin their three-match T20I series on Sunday, September 13, with the opening match scheduled at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. India recently dominated Afghanistan in the Test and ODI series in June, completing a clean sweep. The Men in Blue have also maintained a perfect record in T20Is against Afghanistan, winning every match between the two sides so far. Interestingly, despite the series being played in India, Afghanistan are the official hosts.
India will enter the series looking to build momentum after mixed results following the T20 World Cup. They suffered T20I series defeats during tours of Ireland and England before recovering with a series victory in Zimbabwe. With the regular captain unavailable, Shreyas Iyer has been handed the responsibility of leading India.
Afghanistan, meanwhile, remain one of the most unpredictable teams in T20 cricket and are capable of challenging any opposition. This will be their first international series since the T20 World Cup, following an impressive series win over the West Indies.
