Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has reportedly sought clarification from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) regarding the investigation involving him. According to Geo, the veteran cricketer has written to the agency asking why he was summoned and seeking details about the alleged disciplinary violation under scrutiny.

Rizwan is also understood to have questioned the NCCIA about his mobile phone, which was reportedly confiscated during Pakistan’s recent tour of England. The device has allegedly not yet been returned to him. The senior batter was sent back home midway through the England tour after struggling with the bat in the opening two matches.

Soon after his return, the NCCIA reportedly summoned him for questioning, forcing Rizwan to miss an ongoing domestic red-ball competition. Neither the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) nor the NCCIA has officially revealed the reason behind the investigation involving Rizwan and fellow Pakistan batter Imam-ul-Haq.

However, reports in the Pakistani media have claimed that authorities are examining the players’ financial transactions and bank records during their time in England. The reported investigation is also said to include their correspondence, messages, phone calls and contacts. At present, there has been no official confirmation of these claims from the relevant authorities.

While Rizwan came under scrutiny amid his poor batting form, Imam-ul-Haq’s reported situation is different. The left-handed batter was accused of faking an injury during the second Test against England.

The PCB had announced on the opening day that Imam had suffered a calf problem. However, he did not come out to bat despite Pakistan being in a position where even a partially fit batter could potentially have been useful.

Some Pakistani media reports have also alleged that Imam has previously been involved in questionable injury-related incidents and was protected from disciplinary action by former cricketers and coaches. However, these remain reported claims and have not been officially established.

For now, the details of the NCCIA investigation involving Rizwan and Imam remain unclear, with both the PCB and the agency yet to publicly disclose the precise allegations.
