India pacer Arshdeep Singh made an immediate impact in the second T20I against Afghanistan, dismissing opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz for a duck at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday, September 15. It was Gurbaz’s second consecutive scoreless dismissal in the three-match T20I series.
The wicket came on the third delivery of the second over of Afghanistan’s innings. Arshdeep bowled a back-of-a-length delivery outside off stump that angled away from the right-hander. Gurbaz attempted to flat-bat the ball down the ground but failed to get the desired connection, sending a top edge towards mid-on.
Ravi Bishnoi completed a comfortable catch to give India their first breakthrough. Gurbaz departed after facing three deliveries, leaving Afghanistan struggling at 0/1 after 1.3 overs.

The dismissal came after India captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bowl first. India made one change to their playing XI, bringing in Ravi Bishnoi for the injured Varun Chakravarthy.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that Chakravarthy had suffered a side strain while bowling during the opening T20I and would miss the remaining two matches.

“Varun Chakaravarthy experienced sudden-onset discomfort in his left lateral abdominal region while bowling his third over in the first T20I. Scans have revealed a side strain, and he has subsequently been ruled out of the remaining two T20Is.”
Jasprit Bumrah also produced an excellent start with the new ball, bowling a maiden over to Afghanistan captain Ibrahim Zadran. Arshdeep then followed up by removing Gurbaz and putting further pressure on the visitors.

At the time of writing, Afghanistan had reached 89/4 after 13 overs, with Azmatullah Omarzai on 11 off nine balls and Darwish Rasooli batting on 16 off 10 deliveries.
