Rishabh Pant Named Captain As Rest of India Squad Announced For Irani Trophy

The Men’s Selection Committee has announced the Rest of India squad for the upcoming Irani Cup, with Rishabh Pant appointed captain for the clash against Ranji Trophy champions Jammu & Kashmir. Pant will lead the 15-member Rest of India squad, while Sarfaraz Khan has been named vice-captain. Jammu & Kashmir earned their place in the traditional season-opening fixture after producing a historic Ranji Trophy campaign and lifting the domestic title.

The squad features a mix of established names and promising domestic performers. Sanat Sangwan, Shikhar Mohan, Sudip Gharami, Smaran Ravichandran and Ayush Doseja are among the batting options available to the team management.

The spin department includes Manav Suthar, Saransh Jain and Anukul Roy, providing the Rest of India side with several options in the middle overs. India pacer Akash Deep has also been selected, although his participation will depend on receiving fitness clearance.

The pace attack is further strengthened by Mukesh Kumar and Mukesh Choudhary, while Aryan Juyal has been included as an additional wicketkeeping option alongside Pant. Aryan Pandey completes the 15-member squad.

 

The Irani Cup will provide Pant with valuable red-ball match practice as he continues his return to competitive cricket. The fixture will also offer several domestic players an opportunity to perform against the reigning Ranji Trophy champions.
