Veteran Team India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy opened up after his strong comeback in the ongoing T20I series against Afghanistan. Team India have already sealed the three-match series 2-0, with one game in hand. Nitish Kumar Reddy sustained a left quadriceps strain during the ODI series against Afghanistan in June 2026. He missed the tours of Ireland and England as well. However, he recovered from it and then returned to action after a rehabilitation stint at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru as well.

Speaking after the second T20I, he said. (via Indian Cricket Team Instagram), “It can be mentally fatiguing at the CoE. It feels great to get those many facilities to train, perform, and improve your abilities. But I would say I talk to my friends, family, and here and there I go home for a day or two and come back. That gives relief, but that is something we need to take care of.”

“Getting injured, maybe because I am an all-rounder, I have a much heavier workload to manage. I have to keep an eye on it and recover. I take all necessary precautions, but somewhere, when you get injured, you will naturally feel bad about it. It is all about mindset. You have to be really strong at those points,” he again shared.

Nitish Kumar Reddy also shared about his brilliant performance with the ball in the second T20I. In the first game, he bowled a couple of overs and conceded 30 runs. However, he bounced back in the second match with figures of 3/24 from
three overs. He claimed the big wickets of Ibrahim Zadran, Gulbadin Naib, and Rashid Khan. Talking about his spell, he said that every player needed such a performance to gain confidence after coming back from injury as well.
“You just have to be mentally positive and do good things and god will give you at the right time. It feels great. Every player needs that confidence when they are coming back from injury. The first game was not that great for me, but after the second game, I am feeling much happier as any player would need this confidence and I hope I can continue carrying it forward,” Nitish Kumar Reddy concluded.
