Afghanistan star player Rashid Khan picked Indian batting legend Virat Kohli as the most difficult batter to bowl to. Rashid recently played against India in Afghanistan’s three-match T20I series as well. In a podcast with former Indian cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra, he picked Virat Kohli and said there was no room for error when bowling to him. He also applauded Kohli for his competitive spirit as well.

“The one batter who has been challenging for me over the years is Virat Kohli. It is okay if I bowl my best line and length to him. But if I miss even a little here and there, he will punish me. Other batters try to get to the non-striker’s end. But he tries to hit you for a boundary. I also like that competitiveness. I enjoy it a lot. I enjoy bowling to him, as there is no scope for error. If I falter even a bit, he is an excellent player, and he will not only hit it, but hit it in the gap,” he said.

However, Rashid Khan also applauded India star Shubman Gill for his captaincy in the IPL. Gill took over as the captain of Gujarat Titans (GT) in 2024 after Hardik Pandya’s exit as well. Rashid also moved from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to GT in 2022 as well. He stated that Gill gave his players the freedom and backing needed to express themselves on the field as well.

“As a captain, Shubman is calm and gives you that freedom. He supports you and backs you to do well. Sometimes, if a captain demands certain things from you, it becomes difficult. But this never happened. Hardik was also like that. They know you have played enough cricket. They would just tell me how some batters would look to play and what I could bowl to them. Gill, as a captain, really helps every individual to focus on their game. We do not think about the results,” he shared.

Meanwhile, Rashid Khan also picked the best finisher among MS Dhoni, Heinrich Klaasen, Hardik Pandya, and Shivam Dube. He has played against all of them in the IPL and in international cricket as well. However, he picked former India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni as the best finisher. He also added that there was no other batter who
could convert yorkers and lower full-tosses to sixes better than Dhoni as well.

“I will give it to MS Dhoni. You need someone who can hit the yorker and low full toss very well, and I do not see anyone better than him. He is someone who can hit those low full tosses easily for sixes. I will not even think about it,” Rashid Khan concluded.
