Former Indian cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra has strongly backed wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel to become an all-format player for India in the coming years. The 25-year-old recently earned a comeback to the ODI squad for the upcoming three-match home series against the West Indies as well. Dhruv Jurel has also done well in the Test XI as a pure batter, featuring consistently alongside Rishabh Pant in recent times.

“He can become an all-format player because the guy has guts. His discipline is such that he can. If you see Dhruv Jurel, you realise that this guy is actually quite sorted. He says that he works so hard that he becomes a machine. He says that he does not care what pressure and demand is, he doesn’t care and does not give his mind a chance to think about it,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

“During the 2024 Test series against England, after the Visakhapatnam Test, there was a week-long break. Almost all players went back home during the break, but Jurel went back to where he practiced and batted for 230 overs in 2 days with Zubin Bharucha. So, I think he can become a player for all three formats. It is just a matter of getting opportunities. He doesn’t need to change anything; his graph is going upwards. He has a very high ceiling,” Aakash Chopra recalled again.

In just his second match for Team India during the crucial fourth Test of the 2024 series in Ranchi, Dhruv Jurel smashed 90 and 39 in the first and second innings, respectively as well.
