Jasprit Bumrah found himself at the centre of a hilarious social media exchange with his wife, sports presenter Sanjana Ganesan, after a video from India’s Japan tour went viral on Instagram. The India fast bowler was seen visiting a Japanese bedding store and testing custom-made ergonomic pillows. The light-hearted moment was captured by teammate Axar Patel, who filmed Bumrah undergoing detailed checks to determine the ideal pillow based on his neck alignment and sleeping position.
Axar could also be heard laughing in the background as Bumrah praised the precision involved in the Japanese craftsmanship. The pacer then turned the camera towards Axar and revealed that his teammate would be next for the consultation.
“Mere baad tu hai (You’re right after me),” Jasprit Bumrah joked. “Itni jaanch padtaal ke baad kabhi maine apne sone ke baare mein socha nahi hai (I’ve never thought about my sleep in this much detail before),” he added.

The video soon caught Sanjana Ganesan’s attention. The sports presenter, who is married to Bumrah, responded to the Instagram post with a playful question about his choice of activity during the team’s Japan trip. “You’ve gone ALL THE WAY to Japan to do THIS?” Sanjana commented.
The exchange came shortly after India’s historic one-off T20I against Japan at the Sano International Cricket Ground on Tuesday, September 22. Bumrah was not included in the playing XI as India captain Shreyas Iyer opted for other bowling options in the rain-affected contest.

The match was reduced to five overs per side, with India holding their nerve to secure a narrow two-run victory. The result also marked India’s 200th win in men’s T20I cricket, making them the first team to reach the milestone.
India played their first men’s T20I in 2006, defeating South Africa by six wickets in Johannesburg. Their 50th T20I victory came against Sri Lanka in Colombo in 2017, while the 100th was recorded against the West Indies in Kolkata in 2022. India reached 150 wins against Australia in 2024 before completing their journey to 200 victories.

The memorable occasion also featured several jersey exchanges between players from both teams. Bumrah, despite not playing, exchanged his training jersey with Japan international Declan Suzuki-McComb.
Arshdeep Singh exchanged jerseys with Japan wicketkeeper-batter Alexander Shirai-Patmore and captain Kendel Kadowaki-Fleming. Abhishek Sharma also presented his jersey to a member of Japan’s support staff. The match celebrated 75 years of diplomatic relations between India and Japan and marked the first-ever men’s international cricket meeting between the two nations.
