India batter Rinku Singh believes the entire country would love to see Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli feature in the 2027 ODI World Cup and be part of the Indian team that lifts the trophy. The 2027 World Cup will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe. Rohit and Kohli are also set to return to India’s ODI setup for the upcoming home series against the West Indies, beginning on September 27. The three-match series could provide both veterans with valuable match practice as India begins preparations for the next World Cup.
“They are legends, both Virat bhaiya and Rohit bhaiya. Not just me, but the entire nation hopes that they play in the World Cup and are part of the team that goes on to win it,” Rinku Singh said while speaking on JioStar.
Rinku also acknowledged that the 2027 tournament could potentially be the final World Cup appearance for the two experienced stars.

“It would be a huge moment for the whole country, as who knows, it could be their last World Cup. So, it would be huge if they could win it for India. It would be huge for them as well, because we have not won the World Cup in a long time,” he added.
Rohit Sharma has featured in three ODI World Cups, between 2015 and 2023, and has consistently been among India’s leading performers. During the 2019 edition in England, he finished as the tournament’s highest run-scorer, accumulating 648 runs in nine matches, including five centuries and a half-century.
Rohit has scored 1,575 runs in 28 World Cup matches at an average of 60.57, with a record seven centuries. Kohli has an even bigger World Cup tally, scoring 1,795 runs in 37 matches at an average of 59.83. His record includes five centuries and 12 fifties.

The former India captain has also amassed 14,941 runs in 314 ODIs at an average of 58.59, including 54 centuries and 79 fifties. With both players returning to the ODI setup, their performances in the coming months will remain closely watched as India builds towards the 2027 World Cup.
